WEST Eaton Care Home were delighted to welcome residents' families and friends to their annual barbecue on June 16, when they officially opened their new extension.

Mr Mike Thornhill MBE very kindly cut the ribbon at the official ceremony.

He was awarded his MBE this year in recognition of his community work, particularly for Leominster in Bloom and has been a Friend of West Eaton for many years.

The extension has greatly extended the ground floor giving an open seating area, bringing in more light with large windows and doors opening onto the landscaped gardens.

Rita Graham, the activities coordinator at West Eaton says "The extra space is lovely for the activities such as art, garden therapy, and the acoustics are fantastic for entertainers and our regular drumming sessions Beat It"

Sue Huxley, the manager of West Eaton said "It was a fabulous event and we are so thankful for the ongoing support and generosity of our resident's families, the Friends of West Eaton and the local community.

"Thank you also to my team who pulled out all the stops and went the extra mile, as always, to ensure our residents had a memorable day."
