Leominster hosted Herefordshire’s Armed Forces Day celebrations this weekend, which brought all ages together to recognise the work of servicemen and women past and present.

The day was organised by Leominster Town Council as part of a week-long series of events held in homage to the armed forces, including a concert on Friday June 29 featuring performances from the Marches military wives choir.

Saturday’s celebrations included a military vehicle display, cadet drills, military stands and stalls, a history walking tour and a march.

The day culminated with a service of remembrance and prayers for peace at the War Memorial at the Grange.

A scheduled fly-over by a Lancaster bomber was cancelled as the iconic World War Two plane was grounded at Liverpool due to an issue with a wheel, however according to organisers the day was well attended and brought the town together as a community.

Paul Russell, town clerk at Leominster Town Council, praised the work of the organisers for putting the event together.
