BATHERS queued to get into Cirencester's open air swimming pool as the heatwave in Gloucestershire continued over the weekend.

Its special Splash Day included a barbecue, tombola, children's games, cake stall, raffle and float runs.

At one point it was so busy the pool had to operate a one-in-one-out entry policy.

David Wright, who was manning the barbecue, posted on social media that he had served 100 burgers and 50 sausages in an hour and 45 minutes.

Temperatures remained high throughout Gloucestershire with the Met Office forecasting that Monday will be dry and sunny for most.

Independent forecaster Gloucestershire Weather, however, warned of approaching thunderstorms over northern France: "It’s all heading north, the only real question is whether it makes the journey across the channel, or fizzles out."
