A LOCAL school decided to do something a bit different for their sports day this year so they held the first ever Michaelchurch Escley Primary School Highland Games.

Under glorious blue skies, 60 kilted children competed in a selection of Highland inspired events including tug-of-war, tossing the caber and a cross-country foot-race.

Attendees were piped in by Caius, one of the parents, and the games were officially opened and closed by Orlie on a custom made horn.

The staff and children had tremendous fun and enjoyed a great afternoon.

An altogether brilliant alternative to the traditional sports day!
