AFTER coming agonisingly close to winning the Evo-Stik Southern Premier with Redditch, Jordan Liburd was delighted to finally clinch the title with the Bulls.

Arriving at Edgar Street in January, Liburd played a crucial role, filling the commanding centre-half role as the Bulls ran clear for the title.

After also making 10 appearances for Solihull Moors last season in the National League Premier, the defender is now looking forward to life back in the National League.

Liburd had previously reached the Southern League play-offs with Redditch, but was an influential team member when Hereford returned during the Bulls 2-0 victory in April.

"I've been trying to win the league for four years now so to finally come to a team and win the Southern League has been great," said Liburd.

"I spent three years with Redditch and we got second place about two years ago when we got knocked out in the play-offs by Leamington when they went up.

"A lot of their fans are very kind and they welcomed me even though I was on the opposition so it's a nice place to go anyway but obviously the job was to go and beat them really.

"There were a lot of fans there and a great atmosphere as well so obviously the amount of fans behind that goal cheering us on gets you going."

With the absence of Ryan Green due to injury and then suspension, Liburd was placed in the heart of the Hereford defence for the final run of games.

"It's a difficult team so when you've got your place you've got to cement it and hopefully that's what I've done and showed which is why I've been playing constantly," added Liburd.

"Me and (Ryan) Green had a good partnership towards the end of the season, he went out for three games and Dara (O'Shea) stepped in but both of them are great players so it's easy to play with them.

"When your head goes, he (Green) knows exactly where you should be so he's good at letting you know exactly your position. Basingstoke obviously wasn't the greatest of games from the get go but we have cemented it since.

"The amount of clean sheets we got since that game is the reason we finished the league so early, clean sheet after clean sheet wins you games and it's great to be in."

Liburd is already looking at returning to the National League North with Hereford after his spell in the National League Premier Division last season.

"I have been at Solihull so it is good to get back to that level again and start playing, especially with the lads moving up so it should be another great season," he added.

"Hopefully the fans will continue to be as great as they've been so it should be brilliant."
