Decostruttori Postmodernisti will visit The Courtyard this June as part of their first UK tour.

Decostruttori Postmodernisti are four young Italian professional musicians who combine sharp technical skills with the verve of cabaret to present an unforgettable musical experience. One of the most distinguishing features of the group is their use of the theremin and its distinctive sound. First invented in Soviet Russia in 1928, the theremin is controlled by a player who glides around the instrument without even touching it. The quartet also features the piano, violin/viola and cello but audiences may also hear a mandolin, melodica, kazoo or slide whistle.

In the Beginning was the Sound, the show which they are bringing to The Courtyard, explores the history of music. Starting with Stravinsky, diving back to the medieval, ignoring Beethoven and ending up at The Bee Gees, audiences will be taken on an entertaining musical roller-coaster.

Decostruttori Postmodernisti are not like anything else! Being almost equal parts serious and silly, their repertoire ranges from contemporary Italian classics such as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, to classics by well-known composers such as Mozart, Holst or Stravinsky, all the way to Somewhere Over the Rainbow – a classic of a different kind. Each performance is inventive and often feature quite unexpected arrangements.

Decostruttori Postmodernisti will be at The Courtyard on Monday, June 11 at 7.45pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit www.courtyard.org.uk.
