THE good news is We Are Scientists have heard of Herefordshire, as they will be performing at this year's Nozstock.

The music festival near Bromyard is celebrating its 20th anniversary and has an impressive line-up. As well as the Californian band, Chase and Status and Goldfrapp will also be getting the crowds doing during the third weekend in July.

We Are Scientists formed in California in 2000 and consists of guitarist and vocalist Keith Murray and bass guitarist Chris Cain.

Murray spoke to the Hereford Times from Croatia on the first day after the band's European tour.

He said: "Yesterday was the last one in Cologne. It was a lot of fun. I was talking to Chris at the end of the show and I was like, 'I can't believe I am saying this - I am really sad this is the last one.'

"It's ok though because we play in a week in the US.

"Tours can be fairly gruelling. Everyone gets sick and exhausted and stuff.

"But now we are healthy again, we are ready to carry on."

Their album With Love and Squalor was the band's breakthrough success in 2005 including the singles Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt and The Great Escape.

They have now released five studio albums in total and they have a busy summer ahead of them.

Murray said: "It is pretty packed with this US east cost tour coming up. It is back and forth between the US and Europe doing festivals and west coast of US.

"It is pretty much booked through until the end of August.

"September right now, it is a month off and it looks pretty terrifying on the calender."

But he said they will take the time to work on their next album.

Murray said: "Festivals are an entirely different beast. When you are playing your own show you are definitely playing to a home crowd - everyone knows all the songs and are excited.

"At festivals there will be a handful of songs most people will know. You have really got to try to work when playing - you have got to play all the singles."

But he said he loves playing festivals like Nozstock adding: "The more regional festivals, I think people are more up for it. There is more of a community. I feel at things like Reading and Leeds people are there to party, for sure. But I feel like at the smaller ones there is a sense people are at a party together."

Nozstock is at Rowden Paddocks, Bromyard, Herefordshire, HR7 4LS from July 20 to 22. Tickets are from £125 for adults and from £95 for teens. 12s and under free. Go to nozstock.com
