TWO cats which lost their home due to a fire are looking for new owners.

Benji and Susie were left homeless, along with their owner and her dog, when the mobile home where they lived burned down.

The fire took place at a farm in Longtown in February in the southwest of the county.

The ten-year-old cats are now at Hay Cat Rescue and are in need of a new home.

Kathie Wilks from Hay Cat Rescue said: "The owner and her dog were very kindly taken in by neighbours who spent days trying find the cats who'd gone into hiding after being frightened by the fire and no home to go to.

"The neighbours kindly gathered Susie up and just beat the snow before we were cut off to bring her to me.

"Benji took a little longer to gather up and came a few weeks later to join his sister."

The owner planned to take the cats back but she was unable to have the cats in her new rented property.

The cats are in a good condition and have been vaccinated and microchipped.

Kathie added: "Susie and Benji are just the nicest pair of cats you could meet: very friendly, very loving, fine with other cats and used to living with a dog.

"But everyone overlooks them because of their age, which is sad as they could well live another 10 years."

She hopes to find a home for them together, if possible. Call Kathie on 01497 821401 if you think you can help.
