MEGAN Baker House is tucked away in a rural spot near Leominster - so many people may not know about the good work they do.

But the charity provides help to children and adults alike to help them live daily life to the full.

The Hereford Times set up Project Chrysalis to raise £35,000 for the charity but we haven't quite reached our target and we are asking you to donate what you can.

Megan Baker House provides conductive education sessions for children and adults with motor disorders such as cerebral palsy, dyspraxia, Parkinson's disease, stroke and acquired brain injury.

Conductive education is a holistic, movement-based educational approach for children and adults who have neurological motor difficulties.

Seven-year-old Ellis Wade has been going to the charity's base in Morton Eye since April 2016 for around two hours each week.

His mum Cassie Wade said: "Since attending Megan Baker House Ellis has learnt to do up a button on his school top, pour himself a drink (without spilling it) and ride his bike without stabilisers.

"Over the past two years Ellis' confidence has grown and he is now able to verbally join in activities that are planned for his weekly session.

"Megan Baker House has helped Ellis physically and mentally and his dad and myself are very grateful for the time and effort that all the staff have put into helping our son.

"Ellis is meeting most of his targets set by the conductor. All of the achievements, no matter how small, will help Ellis in his lifetime to become the strong independent boy we know he is."

Ellis attends the charity's advanced mobility group where he carries out numerous tasks in various positions aimed at improving the areas of difficulties caused by his condition, for example, his balance, the control and fluency of his movements and also the efficiency and precision of his fine movements among other things.

The sessions teach Ellis coping mechanisms and techniques to allow him to learn to manage the difficulties caused by his disability.

Income from grants account for approximately half of the charity's running cost - the remainder comes from community support, parents and the general public which is why Project Chrysalis is needed.
