A BUMPER week at the Whitehouse Community Hub saw the volunteers win the first prize of £1,000 at the Community Awards Ceremony at the Shirehall on May 16.

Three days later they organised an event to celebrate Harry and Meghan's wedding.

An afternoon tea sponsored by Hat Trick enabled organisers to provide a delicious tea and many of the ladies donned colourful hats for the event.

"We wanted to share with the other 1.9 billion people celebrating this very happy wedding" said Cllr Lloyd-Hayes, "it seems as if the whole world wanted to be part of this celebration , and let's face it the pageantry was second to none."

Unlike many community centres, there are no paid staff at the Whitehouse Hub - it's all down to the generosity of the volunteers.

There are regular classes and groups all week and the Hub has given the area a new lease of life where all are welcome.
