LAST year's church fete at Hampton Bishop saw Vicar Nick Armstrong arrive in style, playing BBC Top Gear's The Stig. He was driving a beautiful, open top, silver E Type Jaguar. This year's fete will be on Saturday, June 16 from 1pm to 4pm. It features a Classic Car Show, and a Duck Race, with half the race profits going to St Michaels Hospice.

The Duck Race is at The Back Brook, just a five - 10 minute stroll from the main fete at the village hall. There's more parking at the field there, but it is not suitable for wheelchairs.

The line up this year also includes a fantastic jungle fun run bouncy castle, treasure hunt, and a chance to throw wet sponges at teachers, vicars and parish councillors in the stocks. St John's Brass Band and St Paul's School Choir will be performing, first prize in the grand prize draw is £100, and some really special cars are expected at the Classic Car Show.

A wide range of refreshments will be served, including tea and soft drinks, cakes, ice creams, strawberries, hotdogs, burgers and more. The swings, seesaw, slide and climbing frame are free, and there's some interesting displays. The traditional stalls include all the usual favourites.

Fete visitors always enjoy a wonderful warm community spirit at Hampton Bishop, and will be made most welcome.
