A VILLAGER has complained about the quality of public transport offered to rural communities in the county.

Vanda Oliveira lives in Ewyas Harold and used to work in Hereford but would find herself unable to get to work due to the unreliable buses.

She had to catch two buses to get to work - the first was the 440 between Abbey Dore and Pontrilas, and the second was the X3 from Pontrilas into Hereford.

But she said the subsidised 440, which is run by Yeomans Travel, would often be late or not turn up all, which meant she missed her second bus.

The 50-year-old said: "If you have a bus route out of town you don't send a bus with problems."

Ms Oliveira said the 440 would often break down.

She added: "I changed my job because it is near home and it is more hours. It is one of those things - we are not well served because you never know if the bus is coming."

Yeomans Travel did not respond to the Hereford Times when contacted.
