A FIVE-year-old boy took on a fundraising challenge in memory of his sister who was stillborn.

Little Freddie Pugh likes to think of his sister, Lola, as a butterfly and so it was apt that he took part in a charity's fundraiser called The Butterfly Run.

In May 2011, Lola was stillborn at 39 weeks after a problem-free pregnancy.

Linzie Pugh, 32, and her husband, Liam, 30, went on to to have Freddie in September 2014.

She said: "I then went on to have three further miscarriages in 2015 before being successful in having our second daughter Matilda in 2016.

"Kicks Count aims to reduce the UK's shockingly high stillbirth and neonatal death rate by raising awareness of babies' movements."

Throughout May, people are taking part in Kicks Count's The Butterfly Run where anyone can run as far as they like to raise money for the charity.

Linzie, from Eardisley, added: "We thought it would be a perfect tribute to Lola with her seventh birthday being on May 15 and Freddie likes to think of her as a butterfly."

Freddie, who goes to Eardisley Primary School, did the run on May 7 in Eardisley at the Millennium Green and has raised more than £1,300.

Linzie added: "We set out to raise £100 but it very quickly escalated.

"Freddie is already talking about doing it next year and we think it would be a fantastic thing to do annually not just for the charity but for our family."
