A MADLEY business which specialises in agricultural trailers has received a grant to help the company expand further.

AW Trailers, a leading manufacturer of agricultural, commercial and industrial trailers, has expanded its current manufacturing base in Madley and created new jobs with the grant from Herefordshire Council.

The grant, worth almost £58,000, is part of the Marches Building Investment Grant (MBIG) which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and aimed at funding extensions, renovations and reconfigurations to commercial premises so that businesses can grow.

For AW Trailers, this has meant an extension to its existing manufacturing centre to meet increased demand for bigger and more complex trailers.

Founded in 1993 in small rented premises with just three employees, AW Trailers has grown steadily over the years and moved to its current base in 2001. Two extensions followed as the business adapted to meet market need.

However, with the employee headcount at 25 two years ago, the decision was made that further expansion was necessary to meet the increasingly diverse nature of the agricultural market.

The MBIG totals £2.5m and is open to businesses across the entire Marches region from Herefordshire through to Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.
