PETE Beadle questioned the referee whether Ryan Green had to be sent of in the dying moments during his side’s 2-0 victory at Redditch United.

With just minutes of injury time remaining the Bulls centre-half was given a straight red for an ‘out of control’ tackle of Tyler Weir despite seeming to get the ball.

He will be available for Saturday's home game against Chesham United but will miss the next four of the remaining five matches.

Otherwise it was a faultless performance for Hereford with headers from Jimmy Oates and Lance Smith in each half securing a comfortable victory.

Beadle said: “With Ryan’s experience in the last minute and being 2-0 ahead and 50 yards from goal does he need to make the challenge?

“We don’t want to take that edge away from him but now it’s going to cost us four games. We are going to miss him and he has been our most consistent defender this season.

“I though he did get the ball first but it did look a little bit restless. I said to the referee it’s the last minute surely a yellow card was enough but the referee said he was out of control and reckless.

“It’s a shame as he has been our most consistent defender and brings that reassurance back there so it’s a tough one to swallow.

Redditch United manager Tim Harris agreed with his opposing manager.

He added: “It was definitely a foul but whether it was a red card or not.

“Use a bit of sense we were into the last minute of the game and if it was one of my players I would be disappointed it was a red.”

Despite the red card Beadle was pleased with the performance over the full 90 minutes from his side who were cheered on by a huge following.

He added: “A good solid performance and we kept the ball really well and kept them to few chances and it was nice to keep a clean sheet.

“We started well and pushed them back, we would have liked to be more ahead at half-time. We looked solid defensively from set pieces and looked like we might score at the other end.

“So a real complete performance today.”
