PUMPED up and ready for work, Hereford estate agents Craig Sewell and Liam Edwards will be relying on pedal power alone to get to their customers during Sport Relief week.

Armed with cycle clips as well as clip-boards, the two professionals will be conducting all appointments, viewings and valuations over a 20-mile radius from their city base by bicycle.

Their challenge, to keep appointments with clients by bike, could mean some strenuous leg-work for 33-year-old Craig and his 21-year-old colleague, Liam, who both work for Andrew Morris Estate Agents.

From Monday, March 19 to Friday, March 23, their diaries will depend on two standard street mountain bikes, kindly on loan from Mastercraft, a cycle shop close to their Bridge Street office.

“We are planning to go out of town on our bikes, it will depend on diary times,” says Craig, who is confident they can accomplish their job by bicycle.

“We are both sportsmen, though I have hung up my football boots and now play golf.”

Both men admit they are “active”, have been keen cyclists for many years, and look forward to the task ahead with gusto.

As estate agents, Craig and Liam are aware that their customers will expect them to arrive smartly dressed and on time.

“We have adapted our clothing for the challenge, though we shall of course be expected to be smart for business and will be wearing a shirt and tie,” says Craig.

“We shall be doing everything, viewings, valuations, all appointments, by bike.”

Their brief may require them to pedal up to 20 miles in any direction out of Hereford.

“For instance, we may be required to cycle out to see a customer in Peterchurch,” explains Craig. “That might mean setting off in the early hours!”
