PUPILS got the chance to see their stories turned into a book, complete with illustrations.
Hereford Cathedral School pupils created 17 new stories for World Book Day (March 1) and self-published their very first book.
Pupils at the school’s weekly lunchtime Book and Art Clubs learned the art of illustrating, design and book layout from professional Herefordshire artist and author Iain Welch over two terms.
Iain’s own book, Steve’s A-Z of Sport, was published in 2017.
Hereford Cathedral School’s World Book Day Big Story Book contains both picture book stories for young readers as well as stories for older readers.
Iain told pupils that he was first inspired to draw when he saw fantastic illustrations in books like Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Paddington Bear and Matilda.
“Quentin Blake is the reason I now draw and doodle for six to seven hours every day,” he said.
The book was printed at Orphans Press in Leominster.
