THREE friends are taking on a 186-mile walking challenge to help raise money for a dedicated maternity bereavement suite.

Richard Morgan, Michael Ward and Rory Evans will walk a north to south journey through Wales, starting at Llandudno and finishing at Cardiff Bay.

They are raising money for the Born Sleeping Appeal which needs to raise £75,000 to provide a dedicated space at Hereford County Hospital for parents who have lost a baby.

The vision consists of three rooms to provide a delivery room, an en-suite family room to allow partners to stay overnight and other family members to visit in a private setting and a room for counselling.

Richard, who lives in Builth Wells, said a friend of his runs the Powys branch of the SANDS (Stillbirth and Neo-Natal Death) charity and she told him about the Born Sleeping Appeal.

He got in touch with his friends Michael, from Leominster, and Rory, from Builth, who agreed to take on a challenge with him to raise money.

They start on March 23 and plan to complete it in eight days.
