CHRISTMAS came early at Hereford County Hospital this week after a haul of books were delivered to the children's ward.

Duncan Cooper runs the Children's Bookshelf - The £2 Book Shop in Hereford and over one weekend in November he held an appeal with the aim of donating one free book to the ward for every 10 books sold at his city centre showroom to say thank you for the care his young son has received.

Mr Cooper said: "We were able to donate 70 free books to the Children's Ward at Hereford Hospital.

"Our son, Edward, is under the care of the hospital and has been since birth. He is now nearly three and we wanted to give something back, and this was a brilliant way to do so."
