A FORMER chorister has been named as Hereford Cathedral’s Boy Bishop for 2017.

Brinsley Morrison, 13, a pupil at Hereford Cathedral School, will be enthroned in the historic Ceremony of the Boy Bishop on Sunday, December 10.

His older brother Jacob is a member of the cathedral’s bell-ringing team, while younger brother Rufus joined the cathedral choir as a probationer chorister this term, having previously sung in the choir of Holy Trinity Church, Whitecross.

Brinsley is also now singing at Holy Trinity as a tenor and with Hereford Cathedral School’s Chapel and Chamber Choirs. He also plays violin and piano.

In the course of his time in the choir, Brinsley sang several hundred services, and took part in the 300th anniversary Three Choirs Festival at Hereford in 2015, a CD recording, several television and radio broadcasts, and a tour of the USA.

He said: "I am proud to be joining the list of former choristers who have been chosen to be Boy Bishop."
