A SECURITY guard at a shop in Hereford took part in a fundraising challenge in a tutu.
Chris Wardman works at Primark in Widemarsh Street and offered to run the Birmingham Marathon for the youth centre, Close House.
He wanted to raise enough money to pay for WiFi at the centre and said that if he raised sponsorship in excess of £1,000 he would run the marathon in a tutu.
Through a practice run on a treadmill at the Old Market Shopping Centre and with the support of the Hereford community, his colleagues from Primark and the Close House EPICs, Chris reached his fundraising goal and followed through on his promise.
His running shirt and medal will hang in Close House to remind the young people of the lengths that people will go to so that they can have a better future.
Chris said: “Close House do a good job; if we don’t invest in these young people, they won’t have a hope. We’ve got to show them we believe in them.”
