Garden historian Kate Felu? has recently completed a short history of Newport House, from when it first appeared in the records, to the present day, unearthing data from the record office and from the many people involved with it one way or another, and putting it within the context of the bigger estates in Herefordshire.

The book she wrote last year “The Secret Life of the Georgian garden” was reviewed by Robin Lane Fox who wrote: “It is exceptionally enjoyable, written with style and humour and packed with little-known sources”, a review that Jenny Watt of Newport House says is equally true of her new book.

Kate will be at Newport House, where the third Out of Nature sculpture exhibition can currently be seen, on Saturday and Sunday, October 7 and 8 at 2pm to talk about the property and its past.

Books are available from the Out of Nature shop and tickets can be booked online at outofnature.org or on the door.

Out of Nature runs daily until October 22, 10.30am to 5.30pm. Entrance £5, free for students and children.
