THE best of village life was celebrated in Wigmore – with the likes of fruit and veg, cakes and artwork all on display at this year's show.

The third Wigmore Village Show returned to the Church of St James, with a team of enthusiasts led by Ken Wade helping to ensure the smooth-running of the event.

Supporters of Wigmore Church were able to join in the day’s events and, after a harvest service at St James Church, the harvest supper was held in the evening at the village hall, where raffle prizes were presented. Takings from this year's raffle will go to Cancer Relief.

There were fewer classes this year to reflect the smaller number of children’s entries, and entries were judged to encourage the less experienced to take part but still identify the best.

The committee said: "We wish to thanks all the local sponsors and of course the exhibitors whose generosity, many of whom insisted on paying over the odds for their competition entries: all heroes. We are grateful for the continued support and enthusiasm of Wigmore School and the ladies of the church."
