SIX cases of arson were reported in Leominster during two days last week.

The incidents took place on Wednesday and Thursday (September 13 and 14) of last week and are all being fully investigated by police.

Sergeant Sarah Knight said: "We are not, at this time, linking the incidents together. However we are keeping an open mind as our enquiries continue.

"We take such incidents seriously and are continuing to work closely with partner agencies, as well as conducting additional patrols in the area.

"The wider community may be able to provide us with information and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to come forward."

The incidents are:

  • A for sale sign which was set alight in Gateway Lane, Leominster between 6pm and 8am.
  • Fence panels which were set alight at the rear of Holme Lea overnight.
  • An electric box which was set alight in Gateway Lane, overnight.
  • A vehicle on a driveway that was set alight on Marlborough Close and was reported at 5:05am on 14 September.
  • A portable cabin destroyed by fire on South Street.
  • Damage to hedging in the alleyway leading to Marlborough Close.

Sergeant Knight added: "Did you see anyone coming home late, perhaps smelling of smoke or with singed clothes? It is also possible that people in the locality of the incidents might have caught something on their CCTV systems which could aid our enquiries.

"We are also interested in speaking to a person believed to have passed through Castlefields and Silurian Close on Wednesday (13 September) at around 9.30pm as it is believed that they may have information relating to one or more of the incidents. If you were this person or you know who it was please contact us."
