A MAN dropped two bags of drugs when leaving a Hereford pub, a court heard.

Stacy Brian Hogg, 40, of Merestone Road, Hereford, pleaded guilty to possessing six tablets and 409 milligrames of Alprazolam.

Amy Davies, prosecuting at Hereford Magistrates Court last week, said that on May 11, the defendant had been drinking in the Queens Arms pub on Broad Street. As he went to leave he dropped two snack bags which was reported to police.

Police searched the local area and the defendant who matched the description given was found and arrested.

On interview Hogg admitted that the drugs were his.

Chris Read, mitigating, said that shortly before the incident Hogg had fallen out with his partner and had effectively been thrown out of his property before finding an old sports bag to put his clothes in.

"He forgot the drugs were there as it hadn't been used in years," said Mr Read.

"He couldn't remember what it was but suspected it was a drug. After falling out with his partner he sought solace with his friend's and got completely drunk on a pub crawl around the town. He dropped the drugs as he was leaving the pub."

Hogg was ordered to pay a £40 fine, £100 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
