THERE was one last service Kathy Weston wanted to perform for her pupils on her last day at Hereford's St James’ CE Primary School – to serve them an ice-cream.
The children squealed with delight when the MandM van entered the school playground and were happily surprised to see their headteacher serve ice-cream from the van.
Mrs Weston has led at St James’ for seven years and now hands over the leadership of the school to deputy headteacher Ben Caldicott.
“It has been an absolute privilege to be headteacher at St James’," she said.
"The pupils, staff and families are hugely supportive of the school and there is a very strong community spirit here.”
Mrs Weston is now very much looking forward to her new role as headteacher of Trinity Primary School in Moor Farm, Hereford.
