CHILDREN from across the county are to receive crucial information about staying safe and happy in an event spanning several weeks.

The ‘Crucial Crew’ is held each year to educate primary school children on issues such as road, water and fire safety, first aid and emotional wellbeing.

This year more than 2,000 year-six children from more than 70 schools will be attending.

The Social Inclusion Team from 2gether NHS Foundation Trust attends the event every year.

Team manager, Dominika Lipska-Rosecka, said: "This will not only be an enjoyable event, but also an important learning experience for the youngsters.

"The Crucial Crew has been taking place annually for many years now, and each year it gets better and better.

"The children who come along have a great day out with fun workshops and activities, but most importantly they learn about how to stay safe, healthy and happy.

"We’re delighted to have so many children attending this year, and hope the lessons they learn will stay with them for the rest of their lives.”

Agencies involved in Crucial Crew include Western Power, Hope Support, West Mercia Police, Herefordshire County Council, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, 2gether NHS Foundation Trust, Dogs Trust, CLD Trust, Strong Young Minds, and Network Rail.

2gether NHS Foundation Trust will also be doing a roadshow with West Mercia Police and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service at Blackmarston School, Barrs Court and Westfield School on June 12 and 13.
