PREPARATIONS are now well underway for the National Vintage Tractor Road Run (NVTRR) 2018. This will be the 31st national run and will be hosted in Knighton by the Teme Valley Vintage Club, aided by other Radnorshire and Border tractor clubs.

The event will promote Radnorshire and will be running from Benson's Factory yard in Knighton by kind permission of the Edward's family. Ashley Godsall is a founder member of the NVTRR event. From the first run in Herefordshire with 150 tractors driving in the countryside around where he lives in Ullingswick near Bromyard, the run has moved from county to county with one of the largest runs being in Pembrokeshire, where 777 tractors took part.

Ashley said "There has been no shortage of counties bidding to host the event and I am proud that there is a waiting list and it has given those taking part the opportunity to see the beautiful countryside often off the beaten track in England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland".

The runs have always been to raise money for charity, the host club choosing their own charities, Radnorshire have chosen the Wales Air Ambulance, Hope House Children's Hospice, the RNLI and local charities.

The reason the event is starting from Benson's yard is because of it's tractor history, when for several years this is where county tractors and commercials were based, and tractors and vans were converted to four wheel drive. Also on the site is Clayton Engineering who build lifeboat launching vehicles and trailers for the RNLI for use at lifeboat stations around the British Isles and overseas.

The run will take place on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. Entry forms will be available from Teme Valley Vintage club members after the 2017 NVTRR has taken place in Staffordshire on Easter Sunday of this year. A web and facebook page will be available in the near future. For further information in the meantime contact Phil Evans on 01544 267944 or Steve Weaver on 07891909325.
