IN Leominster there are a number of events in the calendar which are eagerly anticipated by both residents and visitors alike.

The Victorian Market is one of those and Saturday's event marked 20 years since it all began.

Traders wore Victorian style clothing, filling Corn Square and Broad Street where they sold a wide range of goods, from food and drink to stocking fillers.

There was also street entertainment throughout the day, including Morris dancing from the Leominster Morris, while rat catchers, clog dancers and other unusual Victorian folk wandered around the town.

Mayor of Leominster, Councillor Angela Pendleton, said: "I thought it went splendidly well. The feedback I was getting from traders was very positive, people were spending money and it's nice that it went well despite the rain. It was a grand day."

The Rotary Club of Leominster raised more than £220 for local charities by hosting a stall called "Cider with Rotary".

Leominster Rotary Club meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month at Leominster Golf Club and potential new members can call Geoffrey Crofts on 01568 615706 or email rotaryclubofleominster@hotmail.co.uk
