MEMBERS of a county planning committee deferred a decision on whether to approve a scheme in a North Herefordshire village.
The Herefordshire Council committee was asked to consider a scheme for six new homes on land at Yarpole, near Leominster, along with four garages.
The scheme, the council heard, had been refused by a previous committee in November 2015 and dismissed on appeal in March this year because the inspector found there was a lack of confirmation about safety in the event of a flood and it was an 'arbitrary layout with a suburban feel'.
However, previous concerns relating to drainage, impact on heritage assets, highway safety and ecology were all considered to be acceptable or capable of being resolved by condition.
A solicitor, speaking on behalf of the applicant, said the 'technicality' had now been resolved through a Flood Evacuation and Management Plan although Yarpole Parish Council still objected to the scheme, the committee heard.
Members deferred consideration of the application pending a site visit. A second separate application, for a proposed home and garage in Yarpole, will also be subject to a site visit.
