A 42-YEAR-old woman who stole £30-worth of meat to fund her drug habit has been given a conditional discharge.
Charleen Burns of Barton Road, Hereford pleaded guilty to theft from a shop at Hereford Magistrates' Court.
She was caught by security staff at Morrisons in Hereford when they looked at CCTV.
Burns admitted to police she was a class A drug user and had taken it to fund her drug habit for that day.
Chris Read, defending, said at the time of the offence Burns was homeless and using drugs on a daily basis.
But he said she now has accommodation and is being seen by the probation service and receiving a methadone prescription. He said she is also volunteering at a homeless shelter.
Magistrates gave her a conditional discharge for six months and ordered her to pay £30 compensation to Morrisons, £50 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
