A HEREFORD accountancy firm have smashed their £10,000 fundraising target for the Hereford Haven.

Nikki Mason, Tracy Mayo, Mark Bevan and Jerry Cowdery from Acre Accountancy Limited are due to trek 100-kilometres of the Sahara desert in North Africa from November 7 to November 16.

They have so far raised £11,400, with more money to come in.

Nikki said: "It is really overwhelming. We have had such fantastic support. It really has been good. You never know what sort of response you will get but everyone, the community and sponsors, they have wanted to support us because it is a great cause."

The money will go to our One in Eight appeal for the Hereford Haven, a breast cancer support centre in St Owen Street.

Nikki added: "We are raring to go. We just want to get started now.

"There are a few nerves. We did our last big walk last weekend in west Symonds Yat."

This week Stourport Wesley Methodist Church donated £160. Dilys Lloyd's concert in Leominster raised £315 and a woman who read about the campaign in the Hereford Times handed in a donation of £300 to the Haven in St Owen's Street. This leaves the total at £33,247.59. This does not include the money for the Acre team, which we will add on when they return.
