A NEW builder around town in Leominster is Polish-born Robert Pietucik.

He has set up his own business with the help of the Herefordshire Prince's Trust and says he is already doing well.

Robert, aged 23, came to England to see some of the world more than three years ago.

He already had some knowledge of building, electrical work and plumbing but his first job in this country was as a waiter in Cheltenham.

It was there he met his fiancee Sara, from the Leominster area, which brought him to her home town.

He has had to overcome a serious illness, learn English and sharpen his building skills before being able to start up his own business.

Robert, who says he loves Herefordshire, applied to the Prince's Trust for a loan to help him get going. They were so impressed with his determination they awarded him £2,000 and the business, known as Ro-Dro, is now well under way.

He said the cash helped him to acquire tools, transport and insurance.

The Prince's Trust helps young people to overcome barriers and get their lives working. It guides them through training, mentoring and financial assistance.
