A TELECOMMUNICATIONS business in Herefordshire has won a Queen's Award after 25 years in business.

The award for international trade marks a rapid expansion for ETL Services Ltd at the Coldwell Radio Station in Madley.

It is in recognition of the company doubling its exports in the past three years to £1.25 million.

ETL is owned by its managing director Ian Hilditch and Dr Essen Bayar. It designs and makes satellite and radio frequency equipment for use by broadcasters, telecoms companies, satellite operators and governments.

As a mark of its rapid growth the business that currently employs 27 people is in the process of recruiting up to an addition seven members of staff.

Exports account for up to 80 per cent of its sales which are made all over the world with Europe and the United States being its biggest markets.

"This is a great success and recognises the progress that we have made. It marks up as a major player in international telecommunications," said Andrew Bond, sales and marketing manager.
