A COUPLE celebrated the first anniversary of their engagement by taking another trip on the rail journey that inspired the proposal, courtesy of Arriva Trains Wales.
It was while on one of the Heart of Wales "rail and roast" tour last year than Alan Davies decided to ask his wife Beverley to marry him. He proposed to her when they stopped for their roast lunch in Llandrindod Wells.
Alan's first wife Marilyn sadly died and Beverley was one of her friends. Eventually - egged on by his children - Alan - a lecturer at Swansea College - started dating Beverley. Love blossomed and the two were married last September at the Baskerville Hall Hotel in Hay on Wye.
