FIRE fighters acted swiftly when they were called out to a tractor on fire at Fernhill Heath yesterday afternoon.
The call out to emergency services came shortly before 5pm, and the the A38 was closed temporarily near the A4536 Hurst Lane junction while the fire crews dealt with the situation.
The fire in the tractor, which was towing a trailer full of wood, was dealt with by two fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel spraying foam.
The fire was put out by 5.30pm and the road reopened to traffic.
