CHILDREN at a Hereford primary school can let their imaginations run wild in their newly transformed garden.

St Thomas Cantilupe Primary School now has an inspiring storytelling and play area after Sanctuary Group – a housing and care provider – worked with construction specialist Seddon to add a magical touch to the garden.

It has a large oak storytelling chair with benches alongside it which will serve as a place for children to get engrossed in their favourite stories and fairy tales.

A new playhouse will give the pupils a chance to explore the outdoors and play with friends.

Joanna Bryan, deputy head teacher at St Thomas Cantilupe Primary School, said: "We are delighted with the works that have been carried out by Sanctuary and Seddon and the children are really looking forward to making good use of the area as the summer approaches. It will really enhance opportunities for learning outside.

"We always encourage the children to read more and I think this new storytelling area will be the perfect place for them to do this."

The works come as part of Sanctuary’s commitment to supporting the communities in which it builds new homes.

The group is currently developing a £1.6m supported living scheme on Coningsby Street for adults with learning disabilities. The development will feature 10 one-bedroom apartments and is due to open later in the spring.

The scheme will be called Red Coast Close, the name chosen by the pupils from the primary school.
