A TRUST set up in memory of a Hereford youngster who was killed while riding his motorcycle has earmarked two sites for development as off-road tracks.

The sites, to the north of the city, have been identified by the Jason Jones Trust and a planning application is to be submitted to Herefordshire Council in the next few weeks.

The trust has found support and sponsorship from the Off-Road Promotions Association, which works with local authorities to provide a safe environment for young people to ride, and it is hoped the tracks can be used independently of each other.

"I hope planning permission can be granted and we can announce our sites before the summer, which is the time of year youngsters tend to be out riding their motorbikes," said Councillor Chris Chappell.

"I do not want to hear of another fatality of a young motorcyclist on our roads."

Jason was killed at the age of 15 while riding a scrambler motorbike on the Rotherwas Industrial Estate.

More than 5,400 people added their name to a petition calling for a supervised area for youngsters to enjoy the sport.
