DRIVERS were shocked to see an aeroplane on the Herefordshire roads today.

An old Boeing aircraft made its way down the A49 this morning after parking up overnight at the Murco services off the A40 at Whitchurch, near Ross-on-Wye.

William Andrews took this video just past the Grafton Inn near Hereford.

Other readers got their cameras out as soon as it arrived in the city.

These snaps were taken from Hereford Voice.

It has not been revealed where the aeroplane was eventually heading, although it has been reported that it may eventually be put back together at a site in Staffordshire to provide a studio for interior design university students.

Two specialised transport lorries carried the heavy load and followed a police convoy.

The journey started yesterday morning at Cotswold Airport in Kemble, near Cirencester, before joining the M4 and travelling through Gloucestershire and then on to Herefordshire.

Due to the slow-moving convoy and the size of the aircraft, traffic disruption was reported.

An identical move is due to happen next weekend.
