WOLVERLEY is set to stage a number of wacky and wonderful world record attempts.

World bests in stacking dice using only one hand, racing 100 metres on a space hopper and speed-eating food with chopsticks will be taken on by students and visitors at Wolverley CE Secondary School’s open days this week.

The events on Wednesday at 6.30pm and Thursday at 9.30am will also feature efforts to topple records in book dominoes, knocking nails into wood and loud shouting.

Bryn Thomas, headteacher at the Blakeshall Lane site, said: “Our school motto is ‘Ambition Unlimited’ and our record breaking attempts certainly live up to that.

“This mantra helps us to encourage our students to aim high and pursue their ultimate dreams.

“During the summer holiday the school underwent extensive refurbishment to make it an even better learning environment.

“Staff, pupils and governors at Wolverley are extremely proud of our school and we look forward to welcoming prospective parents and carers to the open events to have a tour and find out how we can unleash their child’s potential.”

The open days will also include opportunities to experiment with film canisters, air rockets and helium-filled balloons or participate in trivia quizzes put on by the humanities team.
