THE Hereford United fundraising group has decided to cancel a number of forthcoming events due to the 'uncertainty and negativity surrounding the club at present."

A 'picnic on the pitch' event was scheduled to take place this Sunday, while an 'abseil for United' fundraiser was due to happen next Saturday (June 28).

The group is made up of a wide cross-section of Hereford United supporters, including members of both Hereford United Independent Supporters Association (HUISA) and Hereford United Supporters Trust (HUST).

In a statement, Justin Ratcliffe, chairman of the fundraising group said: "The group formed only two months ago and has worked incredibly hard to develop and plan a number of fundraising events that could potentially produce significant ongoing revenue streams for the club.

"The group will continue to meet regularly and continue low level planning of potential future events so that at the appropriate time it is ready to progress these rapidly.

"Any funds raised by the group will be ringfenced in the HUISA account until further notice.

"The fundraising group fully supports the calls from HUST and HUISA for all outstanding monies to be paid to current and previous staff and players.

"The group also calls for complete clarity in the current owners’ intentions regarding footballing and non-footballing issues surrounding Hereford United.

"The group wants to see the club maintain its position as an integral part of the county and engage with the wider community.

"Finally the group would like to put on record its gratitude for the tremendous energy and unstinting support of a number of former members of Hereford United staff."
