MIKRON THEATRE PRODUCTION - The Mikron Theatre Group is doing the rounds on its canal boat again, visiting local communities and it will be performing at Aymestrey Parish Hall on September 6. The group will be presenting Beyond the Veil, a tale of hives, honey and homicide. The play again follows the lives of the Thistledale allotment holders.

Last September’s performance was a first for Aymestrey and was enjoyed by a sell-out audience.

Tickets are £10 (to include a glass of wine). Call Ken Holland on 01568 770367 or Ruth Scamp on 709031.

CHURCH - On September 8, at 9.30am there will be a service of Holy Communion at Aymestrey.

QUIZ NIGHT - The first quiz night of the season will take place on September 13. Start time is 8pm prompt. The charge for teams of up to four members is £5. There is a cash prize for the winning team and a special award for the team with the lowest score.

Refreshments are available and teams are welcome to bring their own alcoholic drinks if desired.

RIDE AND STRIDE - This annual event in aid of historic churches and chapels takes place on September 14. People from Aymestrey and Leinthall Earls will be taking part in what is usually a leisurely meander around the lanes and churches in the surrounding countryside. Anyone wishing to join will be most welcome, and can be assured that hills and main roads are avoided unless absolutely necessary. It is always a fun day out and helps to raise money for our churches and also the Historic Churches Trust (which donates money most generously to churches in need). In recent years local churches have benefited from its grants. For more information, ring loca organiser Meg Thorpe on 780384.
