THE monthly magazine ‘Herefordshire & Wye Valley Life’ will cease publication until further notice.

In a letter to advertisers, publisher Martyn Hammond announced that due to the magazine’s recent performance, the June issue will be the last to hit the shelves “until the economy picks up”.

Alongside the suspension of fellow Archant titles Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Shropshire Life, Mr Hammond said the magazine, based in Cheltenham, could no longer be supported in its current format.

Archant will continue to publish content online - where it currently hosts ezines – and extend the reach of its remaining titles into Herefordshire.

Providing features from around the county, the Archant magazine had covered weddings and country life in Herefordshire for more than five years.

However last year another glossy monthly magazine, Absolute Herefordshire launched for free, in direct competition with Life.

The already-popular and successful Hereford Society, published by the Hereford Times’ parent company Newsquest, is the other glossy lifestyles magazine covering the county.

Life editor Joanne Goodwin had been brought in to head up all four midlands titles just seven months ago but was unable to save the titles.
