FOOD AND CRAFTS - The first food and craft market of 2013 will take place at Knighton Community Centre on Saturday, snow and ice permitting. As well as the usual mix of stalls and a cafe in the hall, there will also be a talk and presentation on the Green Deal for funding environmentally friendly home improvements. This will take place in the adjoining bar lounge, starting at 10.30am and both this event and the market will run until 1pm.

CONCERT SOCIETY - Knighton and District concert society presents The Soprano Duo at the Church Hall, Knighton, on Sunday at 3pm.

The duo, Carrie-Ann Williams and Elizabeth Ryder, will be accompanied by pianist Jonathan French and with be performing works by Vivaldi, Mozart, Brahms, Mahler, Strauss, Debussy, Poulenc and others. The programme will be wide and varied with some well known pieces that contrast with several that are not so well known.

TIME TO SHOW TALENT - It is time again to get entries into the very popular Knighton’s Got Talent competition. Singers, dancers, comedy acts, variety acts, musicians and any other type of performers will be welcome.

The event tales place at Knighton Community Centre on April 6 and there are cash prizes for the first three places. Entry forms are available from Clock Tower tea shop and CCF or call 01547 528524 for more information.

FIRST WASSAIL - On Saturday the Knucklas Castle Community Land Project is holding its very first wassail in the Knucklas Orchard starting at 5pm. Anyone attending the event is asked to bring their own mugs, stout footwear, torches or lanterns, something with which to make a noise to chase off evil spirits (drums, old saucepans, biscuit tins etc), a musical instrument if they play one and good voices because everyone will sing three wassailing songs. After the wassail everyone will be welcome at the Castle Inn to continue playing and singing for the rest of the evening.
