On Bank Holiday Monday, August 28, in the nave of st Nicholas' church, the Zoltan ensemble will perform the dramatic C minor string trio by Beethoven. They will be joined by guests Laura Kernohan (violinist from the Bournemouth symphony orchestra) and Alexandra Robinson (cellist from Welsh National Opera) to perform the sublime string quintet in C major by Schubert.

Earlier in the day, at 11.30am, the ensemble will host a 'meet the string family' children's concert for under-sevens, also in St Nicholas' Church.

The Zoltan Ensemble is a chamber group whose core members are Lowri Porter (violin), Roz Gladstone (cello) and Nancy Johnson (viola) who individually work with orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Roz and Lowri met at the 2011 St Endellion Summer Festival in Cornwall, where, in an environment which brings musicians together to rehearse and play music for the love of it, the Zoltan Ensemble was formed. In 2013 they were joined by Nancy, another passionate Endellionite, for their debut as a trio.

The Zoltans perform around the country and often invite additional members to play quartets, quintets, piano trios and other works for larger ensemble. Lowri and Nancy are based in Cardiff and since Roz moved to Herefordshire in 2016, they have looked closer to home for performance settings. Roz was inspired by the wonderful village of Grosmont when she went along to the 'cycling festival' held there in the summer of 2016 and has since become a regular at the fantastic monthly market.

The concert will start at 7.30pm and tickets, £10, can be booked in advance by emailing zoltanensemble@gmail.com. They will also be available on the door.
