SATURDAY sees the official opening of Green Cow Kitchens following an extensive refurbishment.
For several months, owner Joe Evans and head chef Mickey Provis have been running occasional informal “pop-up”
restaurant nights in a former pigsty on a farm in Whitbourne, near Bromyard.
These events mobilised an energetic TripAdvisor following and the restaurant has already been awarded five stars and stands at second place out of 364 in Herefordshire.
Planning permission has now been granted for a permanent restaurant and the duo will be opening the doors to the public more regularly for set menu advance bookings offering fresh and sophisticated cooking using local ingredients.
Mickey has already set himself a goal of winning a Michelin star by the time he is 30 – “a few years away yet”.
Nearly all of the ingredients used at Green Cow Kitchens are grown within two miles of the restaurant, with organic meat and game coming from Whitbourne Estate and vegetables grown on neighbouring Warren Farm on the Bromyard Downs.
