ROSSITER Books in Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth are just two of 350 independent bookshops around the country taking part in the seventh Independent Booksellers Week, a celebration of independent bookshops running from Saturday until July 6.

As part of the event, William Fothering, who is at the forefront of British cycling journalism, will talk about his book Racing Hard on Monday at 7pm in the Ross shop.

Rachel Joyce, author of the bestselling novel The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, will be visiting Shire Hall in Monmouth next Thursday, July 4, at 7pm, to talk about her second book, Perfect.

There will also be visits later from M C Scott, Andrew Taylor, Andrew Heneage and Ben Kane.

During the week, the annual Book Award will be announced as a judging panel made up of authors, independent booksellers (including Andy Rossiter, owner of Rossiter Books) and broadcasters pick a winning adult title and a winning children’s book.
