McCARTNEYS Estate Agents is reporting a busy end to spring, with sales across the local area buoyant and the good news for both sellers and buyers is that it shows no signs of slowing down.

Mike Hamer who heads up the Knighton, Kington and Presteigne branches said: "As soon as the cold snap at Easter was out of the way, sellers immediately started thinking seriously about putting their property on the market and a good thing too, as there was a log queue of buyers waiting."

Mike added: "Prospective buyers aren't looking for perfect but if a property is well priced, clean, fresh, uncluttered and with the right agent, it will do well.

"A good example of this is an ex local authority house we sold a few weeks ago in Knighton. It when live on our website and Rightmove on Thursday, there was an offer on Friday, one on Saturday and it sold on the Monday.

It's not just affordable family homes either, there has been a distinct upturn in the number of luxury properties costing £500,000 upwards coming to market.

With advances in technology, sellers are taking advantages of services we offer such as virtual tours and drone photography, giving potential buyers a real sense of the property before they view. That's a massive bonus for sellers who know the people who walk through their door are serious about a possible purchase.

Mike also offers a few thoughts for anyone still on the fence when it comes to moving this summer.

He said: "The housing market is at its busiest over the next few months so the sooner you get ahead of your competition, i.e. other sellers, the better.

"Gardens are also looking superb at this time of the year and add real appeal, so show it at its best."
