AMERICAN and New Zealand dealers shipping goods overseas have not been seen more recently, so the April auction saw a keener abroad trade for RG & RB Willams.

The better antiques, as previously reported, sold well in the 475 catalogue as did some of the later 19th century and early 20th century lots.

The 300 catalogued lots met very spirited bidding with pine, as usual, keenly sought after.

A pine dresser sold for £440, a Globe Wernicke three stack mahogany bookcase £175, a heavily carved settle £260, a painted pine two door wardrobe £200, a rustic wood whittlers work bench £172, an Edwardian revolving bookcase £140, a carved oak bureau £130, a 1930s camel back sofa £115, a green leather chesterfield £260, a pair of Chinese chairs £235, a three seat settle £260, a pine chest of drawers £88, a pine desk £100, a large pine cupboard £105, a pine dressing table £115, a painted pine kitchen drawer £132, a drum kit £100, a 1960s sideboard £90, a pair of old cartwheels £125, a pair of weird garden figures £190, a garden bench £120, concrete garden figures £68 and garden tools £69.

Fishing equipment sold strongly up to £220 and Hardy Bros rods up to £88.

A Deep Sea Scouts toy set with tents and figures achieved £140 and a vintage Capston sign reached £50.

The Collectables included toys, stamps and books.

The nearly 200 lots of china, ceramics and glass sold to a wide number of buyers.

The May auction will include a large selection of antiques, country furnishings and collectables.
