Open Days - Other
1,000 years of history
The project to save St James' Church, Wigmore, 1,000 years old, sadly has now come to an end. We'd like to thank all those visitors in the past who have given their support. The ability to look inside this historic building could well be over by the end of 2018, so I would encourage all history lovers to take the opportunity of the remaining months of this year to catch up with the internal aspects. One of the major objections to the scheme related to additional traffic in the village, so please park responsibly, use the Village Hall car park if possible, not in the narrow lanes next to the church. Why not combine this with a trip to the ruined nearby Wigmore Castle - there's a shared history.
There's no admission charge, but donations in the Alms box would be welcome. If you are a bell ringer, you might consider a visit while you are still able to ring our bells. If you'd like access to the 14th century Tower, usually closed to the public, please use the email details supplied.
